If you lost your passport: the steps

  1. Search once more first. Once you report it lost, the passport is cancelled even if you find it later.
  2. Report the loss or theft at the nearest police station and get a police report or report number. Your insurer, your embassy and often immigration will ask for it. Use the cards above.
  3. Contact your embassy or consulate. Usually you need passport photos, any ID or a copy of the lost passport, and your onward ticket.
  4. Australian visas (including the ETA) are linked electronically to your passport number. Once you have a new passport, tell the Department of Home Affairs before you leave (ImmiAccount "Update us" or Form 929); an ETA may need to be re-granted for the new passport. Keep your police report number for exit control. Confirm the exact steps with the Korean mission or Home Affairs (+61-2-6196-0196).

Emergency numbers

If a life is in danger, call the emergency number first.

Mobile data (eSIM)

If you get sick or lose something in Australia, maps, translation and calling for help all need data. Install an eSIM before you fly and it works as soon as you land.

Airport transfers and transport

Taxis and directions are the hardest part when you can't speak the language in Australia. Booking an airport pickup or transport pass in advance means less to explain on arrival.
