Show-the-local phrase cards for when you are sick or lose something abroad
Emergency numbers
If a life is in danger, call the emergency number first.
Good to know here
- Short-term visitors have been asked to pay fines for not registering as foreigners and had their passports taken. Do not pay; call the Embassy's duty officer (+976-9911-4119) right away.
- Watch for pickpockets and drunk people at night in Ulaanbaatar. On countryside tours there is often no signal, so share your itinerary with family.
Before you go
Mobile data (eSIM)
If you get sick or lose something in Mongolia, maps, translation and calling for help all need data. Install an eSIM before you fly and it works as soon as you land.
Airport transfers and transport
Taxis and directions are the hardest part when you can't speak the language in Mongolia. Booking an airport pickup or transport pass in advance means less to explain on arrival.

Travel medical insurance
A hospital visit in Mongolia can cost a lot without insurance. Travel insurance can cover treatment, and most insurers ask for the medical certificate, itemized receipt and police report these cards help you request.

These cards help you communicate. They are not medical or legal advice. In an emergency, call the local emergency number. Contacts and procedures change; check the official sites.
