- Pickpocketing is common on Las Ramblas, at the Sagrada Família and on the metro (especially L3) in Barcelona, and around Puerta del Sol and the metro in Madrid.
- Report theft (denuncia) at a Policía Nacional station. Theft without violence can be pre-reported online (policia.es) and then signed at the station. Madrid, Barcelona and other cities have a tourist assistance service (SATE) with interpreters.
Before you go
Mobile data (eSIM)
If you get sick or lose something in Spain, maps, translation and calling for help all need data. Install an eSIM before you fly and it works as soon as you land.
Airport transfers and transport
Taxis and directions are the hardest part when you can't speak the language in Spain. Booking an airport pickup or transport pass in advance means less to explain on arrival.
